Global Writings is an award-winning program that uses the arts to teach literacy and collaborate with others. The programs are centered around a unique pedagogy that integrates arts, technology resources, and community building. The program is designed to help students explore their identities through art. As part of its curriculum, students learn about the importance of being culturally sensitive and accepting of others. Global Writings has five grant awards for its innovative programs.
The focus of the series is interdisciplinary and focuses on the global context of women's writing and challenges preconceived notions of cultural difference. It also explores gendered identities and the power of literature to bridge cultural divides. Moreover, women's writing research has increasingly embraced an interdisciplinary approach, allowing dialogue between literary texts by women and their social and cultural contexts. This interdisciplinarity will be emphasized in a feminist intersectional approach.
